Emma Raducanu in action during a tennis match

Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events this season as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting in recent days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the deciding set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 victories during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament then falling in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
