Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
