Trump Calls Loved Ones of Shot Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief explained he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Attendees assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” he informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
